About
Welcome to the True Travellers Society Daily Podcast for December twelfth, twenty twenty-five! Today we’re exploring how innovative, people-centered approaches are making global travel more meaningful, from new healthcare access in Zimbabwe to slow, sustainable journeys on the world’s legendary rivers. Discover how purposeful tourism is changing lives—for both travelers and local communities.
Let’s begin with a breakthrough for health-focused travelers and rural women in Zimbabwe. In Hauna, nestled in the Honde Valley’s green hills, the ZimSmart Villages initiative has launched community digital health centers bringing telemedicine to remote areas. Here, almost five thousand people have been screened since June—nearly seventy-five percent of them women who’ve never had access to chronic disease checks before! Telehealth means local women now get expert care without long, costly trips. The program is subsidized to keep it affordable, with ongoing health education and regular follow-ups
