This week Will takes us back to 1924 where we find that a year or so after QST first began its International Amateur Radio department, amateurs were discussing linking amateur radio organizations around the world. In a speech at the second ARRL National Convention in late 1923, Maxim said he believed it was time for an international meeting to organize something he called a World Amateur Radio League, and asked members to submit their ideas for the ARRL board to consider. This is where the International Amateur Radio Union was born
