CHE#71 | Bengali Podcast | Fact Checking Workshop | Oishani Bhattacharya | Alt News
The Coffee House Experience
The world has seen an unprecedented rise in the generation and spread of false information, and India is arguably at its epicenter. Their creation is quite often deliberate which is when they are called disinformation. At other times they are unintentional, which is when they are called misinformation. Often dubbed as “fake news”, they spread like an information epidemic through social media, before crippling public opinion and mainstream narratives. In this session, Oishani Bhattacharya (English Correspondent and Researcher, Alt News) will take us behind the scenes of fact-checking — explaining how false claims are identified, verified and debunked.
