RM Breakfast Show – Katie Taylor’s Psalm – Deacons Thady O’Connor and Fr Sean Sheehy

Deacon Thady takes his cue from Katie Taylor, who carried Psalm 18 into the ring, to make the case for praying scripture directly, the oldest form of prayer in the Church and, he argues, the one Catholics were quietly left out of. That opens onto the harder question underneath the programme: how will Ireland practise its faith when there are no priests left, and where does he think a new priesthood will have to come from? The hymn is The Nazarene, introduced by his daughter Evelyn, with the story of a Connemara fisherman and the gates of hell behind it.
