Dr. York Hsiang is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery and a globally recognized innovator in vascular engineering, notably the inventor of the “smart stent,” a groundbreaking device capable of non-invasively detecting arterial re-narrowing and delivering targeted heat therapy via radio frequency waves. Dr. York Hsiang is Professor Emeritus of Surgery at UBC and served as Head of Vascular Surgery at Vancouver General Hospital. He is author of Audible Bleeding, a definitive history of vascular surgery in Vancouver, and shares his insights through his Substack The Analytical Scalpel.
