What does it mean to tell the story of a woman who changed the course of history?
In this episode of K’s Drama, we explore Gabriela Silang, a play by Barefoot Collective that brings the life, legacy, and courage of one of the Philippines’ most iconic women revolutionaries to the stage.
Joining us are Pat Valera (Writer) and Katte Sabate (Dramaturge), who share their experiences in bringing Gabriela Silang’s story to life. From the places they visited to the histories they uncovered, they take us behind the scenes of the creative process and the journey of understanding a woman who challenged the expectations of her time.
Together, we look back at Gabriela Silang’s role in Philippine history, her fight for freedom, and the ways her courage and defiance reshaped how we understand women’s power, resistance, and feminism in her era.
Join us as we discover what it takes to revisit a revolutionary’s story, reclaim women’s voices in history, and bring the past into conversation with the present.
