Winning souls is not about waiting for people to walk through the church doors. It means taking every legitimate, wise, and Christ-centered opportunity available to take the gospel to them.
1. Seize Every Opportunity
A true soul winner does not wait for ideal conditions; they create and seize moments where they are.
Be Intentional: Look for gospel opportunities at work, at school, in your home, within your neighborhood, during personal conversations, and through media and literature.
The Scripture: “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.” Colossians 4:5
2. Vary Your Methods
People are different, which means our approaches must be flexible. While our message remains fixed, our methods must remain fluid.
Personal Conversations: Direct, one on one outreach.
Literature & Media: Sharing gospel tracts or digital content.
Personal Testimony: Telling others what Christ has done in your life.
Acts of Service & Bible Study: Demonstrating Christ’s love practically and walking people through God's Word.
3. Adapt Without Compromising
Paul became "all things to all people," but he never altered the Gospel to make people comfortable.
The Principle: Adapt the approach, but never compromise the truth. Change your language, setting, or platform never the Word of God.
The Warning: “If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let God’s curse be on them!” Galatians 1:10
4. Meet People Where They Are
Jesus model for soul winning shows us how to connect with distinct individuals based on their unique spiritual state:
To the Religious (Nicodemus John 3:1–21): Jesus addressed a respected leader directly, guiding him beyond outward religion to the necessity of spiritual rebirth. Understand the person's real need.
To the Outcast (The Samaritan Woman John 4:1–42): Jesus started with something simple and familiar a drink of water and bridged the conversation to eternal truth. Start with the common ground.
To the Lost Sinner (Zacchaeus Luke 19:1–10): Jesus went into his home, established a personal relationship, and saw a life radically transformed. Step into their world.
Jesus didn’t wait at a distance; He built bridges, entered lives, and brought salvation to the lost. Let us step out with that same heart using every method, taking every opportunity, and standing firm on the truth so that by all possible means, we might save some.
