En: Every corner of the orphanage reminded of times past, and the air inside was filled with hope.

En: Lena, a 12-year-old girl, stood by the window, watching the leaves swirl under the gentle autumn wind.

En: Her thoughts were occupied with the upcoming Halloween.

En: She had long dreamed of a celebration that would unite all the children in the orphanage, giving them the feeling that they were a real family.

En: Lena shared her plan with Dima and Anya.

En: Dima, a 10-year-old boy with an open smile, supported her idea.

En: “It’ll be fun,” he said, his eyes shining with enthusiasm.

En: Anya, 11 years old, always cared for the other children.

En: She pondered and nodded, “It could be good for all of us.”

En: However, there was one big obstacle—the strict director of the orphanage, who disliked celebrations.

En: The children seemed to have no chance, as they didn’t even have the resources to prepare.

En: But Lena didn’t give up.

En: She suggested using what they already had.

En: “We can find old sheets for costumes and pumpkins in the yard,” she whispered to Dima and Anya.

En: At night, the children began their preparations.

En: They gathered in a corner of the dark basement.

En: There, Lena and Dima made simple costumes from available materials, while Anya carved faces on the pumpkins they found.

En: Their laughter echoed through the rooms.

En: They hoped the director wouldn't hear anything.

En: When Halloween evening arrived, the children gathered in a quiet corner of the orphanage.

En: They had transformed this place into a small magical world.

En: But in the midst of the fun, as if on cue, the director appeared.

En: For a moment, tension filled the room.

En: But to the children’s surprise, instead of getting angry, the director looked at them with a smile.

En: “You reminded me of my own childhood,” she said, sitting down to share a spooky story from her childhood memories.

En: Lena realized at that moment: family is not just about blood ties, but also about the connections we create.

En: From that day on, the director became kinder and allowed the children more freedom and joy.
