Breaking the “If Only” Mindset — Taking Back Your Power in Weight Loss

Direction Not Perfection

About

🧠 Let’s Talk About the “If Onlys”

Last Wednesday, we talked about actionable steps to build momentum.
Today, I want to look at something a little deeper — your beliefs around what’s possible.

Have you ever caught yourself saying:

“If only I understood menopause or could afford hormone therapy…”“If only I didn’t have insulin resistance…”“If only I didn’t have food sensitivities…”

These “if onlys” sound innocent, but they’re actually sneaky mental roadblocks.
They convince us that we can’t move forward until we solve one specific problem — and that keeps us stuck.

Sometimes, the “if onlys” even give us a comfortable place to hide. For example:

“I don’t want to cut back on alcohol, so I’ll focus on workouts or hormones instead.”“I don’t want to give up sweets, so maybe it’s my metabolism’s fault.”

When we hand over our power like that, we lose our confidence.
And when we lose confidence… we lose hope.
And I am here to say NOPE — we are not doing that anymore!

💪 Take Your Power Back

Let’s focus on what you can control:

You can drink more water. You can move your body, even with limitations. You can fill your home with nourishing foods. You can set boundaries, go to bed earlier, and take your vitamins.

These fundamentals will always matter.
They are the foundation that supports every other piece — hormones, stress, gut health, all of it.

So here’s your growthwork for the week:

Grab a few sticky notes and write one actionable step on each — something you know serves you.

Stick them somewhere visible — your desk, bathroom mirror, fridge — and let them remind you of your “show up” factors.

Here are a few examples to get you started:

Strength workoutsDrink waterDeclutter a spacePrep mealsHold a boundaryTake vitaminsGo to bed before 10:00Choose fruits and veggiesPrioritize proteinRead or listen to something uplifting

These are simple, powerful habits that create flow — in your body, your mindset, and your health. When that flow fades, it’s usually because one of your “show up factors” has slipped.

⚡ Consistency Over Perfection

Remember, the magic is in showing up — consistently, imperfectly, and intentionally.
If you don’t know what to be consistent with, you’ll struggle to feel confident showing up at all.

So here’s your takeaway for today:

Create your sticky notes.Get clear on what you want to be showing up for.Focus on consistency — not perfection.

Remember: The change is in the show up.
