And in our little corner of Canton, where the pines lean in like old aunties waiting for gossip, that moment arrived on a quiet Tuesday morning when Truffles—our whiskered, wild-eyed German Wirehair Pointer pup stole Cornbreads left shoe.

That’s when we knew: it was time for school.
