About

In Mark 15:1–15, we see the injustice of Jesus’ trial as Pilate gives in to the pressure of the crowd and releases Barabbas—a clearly guilty man—while condemning the innocent Son of God. Though no legitimate charges are found against Him, Jesus is handed over to be crucified. In a stunning exchange, the guilty go free while the innocent takes their place. Barabbas walks away with his life because Jesus willingly steps toward the cross. This moment reminds us that we are more like Barabbas than we’d like to admit—set free only because of Jesus’ faithfulness unto death.
