For many people, the answer is change. We fear leaving the familiar lane, even when the road we are traveling is no longer leading us toward the life we truly want. We stay parked in old habits, limiting beliefs, unhealthy routines, and comfortable excuses because the unknown feels more intimidating than the pain we already understand.

But fear and being afraid are not exactly the same.

Fear is an emotion. It is a natural response designed to protect us and bring awareness to possible danger. Afraid describes how we feel when that emotion begins influencing our thoughts, choices, and actions. Fear may show up, but it does not have to take control of the wheel.
