What Is Shalom? (SHALOM SERIES)
Beauty in the Brokenness – Christian Women (Bible Study, Faith, Healing, Trauma, Hope)
What does shalom really mean?
We often translate the Hebrew word shalom simply as “peace,” but Scripture gives us a much bigger and more beautiful picture: wholeness, flourishing, harmony, communion with God—the way things ought to be.
In this introductory episode of the Shalom Series, we’ll trace this idea from creation and the brokenness of Genesis 3 to the peace Jesus offers us in the middle of a world that is still not as it should be.
We’ll also look at what Scripture says about shalom in Judges 6, Jeremiah 29, John 14, Philippians 4, and Numbers 6—and why our bodies, minds, relationships, and spiritual lives all matter as we move toward wholeness.
Over the next several months, we’ll explore the things that disrupt our shalom—including grief, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm, trauma, and loneliness—and ask:
• What disrupts our shalom?
• What does Scripture say about it?
• What can psychology and therapy help us understand?
• What helps restore shalom?
• How does God invite us back toward Him?
Because we weren't simply created to survive. We were created for shalom.
