गयः

भारतीयेषु 'गया' क्षेत्रं पुण्यक्षेत्रम् इति भावना अस्ति । अत्र च जनाः स्वपितृकार्यं कृत्वा कृतकृत्याः भवन्ति । किं भवन्तः जानन्ति तत् क्षेत्रं 'गयः' इति राक्षसस्य नाम्ना एव विख्यातं जातम् इति । सः दुष्टः राक्षसः सुराणां नराणां च कण्टकप्रायः आसीत् । तर्हि तस्य हननं कथं जातम् ? ‘गया' इति क्षेत्रस्य नामकरणं कथं जातम् ? इति जिज्ञासायाम् इमां स्वारस्यकारीं कथां श्रुण्वन्तु ।
