His reasoning: managers exist to route information up and down an organizational chain. AI now performs that function faster and with greater consistency.

Block now categorizes every remaining role into three buckets: builders, problem solvers, and player coaches who develop talent. No managers. No information layers.

This is not an isolated event. Over 60 companies have cut more than 38,000 positions this year. Every one cited AI.

Greg Brockman, OpenAI co-founder, said on the Big Technology podcast that they are 70 to 80 percent of the way to AGI. They are building an automated AI researcher expected this fall. OpenAI killed Sora to redirect compute into robotics. They are building a super app that merges ChatGPT, Codex, and the browser agent into one system.

Meanwhile Anthropic accidentally leaked the full Claude Code source code, Perplexity AI is facing a class action over alleged hidden tracking, and SpaceX filed for what would be the largest IPO in history at over $1.75 trillion.

The signal is clear. AI is not coming. AI is here and it is restructuring every organization from the inside out.

The question for every professional is not whether this will affect your role. It is whether you are positioning yourself on the side that builds or the side that gets replaced.
