A Prayer for When We Feel the Distance Between Us

Loving God,

Sometimes we find ourselves next to people

we’re not sure how to relate to—

unsure what we share,

or how we can fit together.

Suspicion, misunderstanding, and mistrust

easily divide us.

But you draw us together

in ways we don’t always expect.

You make room for us—

and for others too.

Help us remain open

in these moments—

trusting

that we are being gathered

into something larger than ourselves.

And that in you,

we belong—

and are learning to belong

to one another too.

Amen.
